About the Session
As healthcare organizations accelerate the move from on-premise imaging systems to fully cloud-based platforms, imaging and IT teams are facing significant uncertainty about how roles, workflows, and responsibilities will change. Many organizations are making these transitions without clear guidance on workforce impact, skill evolution, or operational ownership—raising important questions about what happens to existing teams, how responsibilities shift, and how to prepare staff for what comes next.
In this session, attendees will explore what a transition to cloud-based imaging infrastructure means in practical, real-world terms. Participants will gain insight into how cloud adoption reshapes day-to-day operations, alters traditional PACS and imaging IT roles, and introduces new expectations around vendor relationships, system oversight, and internal collaboration. The session surfaces common concerns organizations encounter during cloud migration and highlights lessons learned from early adopters navigating these changes.
By the end of the session, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to proactively support staff through cloud transitions, identify emerging skill needs, and align operational planning with long-term organizational goals. Attendees will be better equipped to anticipate change, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and position their teams for success in an increasingly cloud-first imaging environment.
Objectives
- Describe how cloud-based imaging platforms change traditional imaging IT and PACS workflows.
- Identify emerging roles, skill sets, and responsibilities needed to support cloud imaging environments.
- Discuss practical strategies for preparing and supporting imaging teams during a transition to cloud-based systems.
