John Mongan, MD, PhD, is the Associate Chair for Translational Informatics, and an Associate Professor of Radiology at UCSF. His research focuses on artificial intelligence in medical imaging. He was the senior author and primary investigator on a project that developed artificial intelligence for the detection of pneumothorax (collapsed lung); in partnership with General Electric, the algorithm developed in this project is currently commercially available.
