About the Session

Vibe coding, the practice of building functional tools through natural language prompts and AI-assisted development, is rapidly lowering the barrier to create their own solutions without formal programming training. This session combines a focused didactic overview of vibe coding concepts and best practices in healthcare contexts with a short, guided hands-on experience, giving participants a taste of what it feels like to turn a clinical question into a working solution in real time. Discussion will also include important considerations extending beyond tool creation, including best practices for robust application security and working with sensitive data. Attendees will collectively build a preliminary app based on the introductory concepts discussed in this session.

Objectives

  1. Build a working app from scratch using recent “AI app builder” tools leveraging effective prompts
  2. Understand how to navigate pitfalls during vibe coding and knowing when to consult an expert
  3. Implement best practices to ensure that aesthetic user interfaces are supported by a robust underlying infrastructure for sustained app deployment
