About the Session
In today’s data-driven healthcare environment, establishing an efficient and scalable data pipeline is critical for optimizing imaging informatics workflows. This interactive learning lab will provide healthcare imaging informaticists with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to design, implement, and manage a data pipeline tailored to their organization’s needs.
Attendees will explore essential components such as data ingestion, transformation, storage, and integration with imaging systems like PACS and EHR. Through hands-on exercises and real-world scenarios, participants will gain confidence in building pipelines that ensure data quality, compliance, and interoperability within healthcare environments.
Course Requirements and Downloads
This is a BYOD Session. Participants who wish to participate in the hands-on portion of this lab will be required to bring their own laptop with required software installed. Requirements will be distributed closer to the meeting.
Objectives:
- Describe the essential components of a healthcare imaging data pipeline, including ingestion, processing, storage, and analytics.
- Explain the importance of data standardization and regulatory compliance in healthcare data pipelines.
- Identify common integration challenges with systems such as PACS, EHR, and cloud storage solutions.
- Implement a basic data ingestion process from imaging modalities using industry standards such as DICOM and HL7.
- Configure a data transformation workflow to clean, standardize, and prepare imaging data for analysis.
Integrate a sample data pipeline with PACS and an analytics dashboard to visualize key metrics.
