About the Session

In the rapidly evolving landscape of healthcare technology, ensuring the security of medical devices within medical imaging has become paramount. This session will explore the critical challenges and cutting-edge solutions for safeguarding hardware and software in medical devices, focusing on the unique challenges of imaging informatics. As enterprise imaging systems increasingly rely on connected devices and advanced imaging technologies, the risk of cyber threats has amplified, necessitating robust security measures including updating device firmware, proper DICOM routing configurations, the use of a proxy firewall for devices with legacy operating systems, and other advanced techniques to protect sensitive patient data and maintain the integrity of medical operations.

Objectives

  • Identify key vulnerabilities in medical imaging devices and understand the implications of these security gaps.
  • Demonstrate specific techniques and protocols such as up-to-date firmware maintenance, secure DICOM routing, and the effective use of external firewalls.
  • Explain the integration of advanced technologies like AI and blockchain to enhance the security and reliability of medical imaging systems.
