Postdoctoral Fellow
University of Maryland, Baltimore
Dr. Taiyu Zhang is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, specializing in artificial intelligence for medical imaging. His research focuses on developing explainable deep learning systems for automated detection and grading of traumatic injuries from CT scans, including pelvic fractures and hemorrhage. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he worked on advanced computer vision and representation learning methods for medical imaging. Dr. Zhang’s work integrates machine learning, clinical imaging, and interpretable AI to improve diagnostic accuracy, clinical decision support, and trauma care outcomes.
